FAQ
We are currently in 8 elementary schools, primarily in the FCUSD. We have added 1 school in the SJUSD and 1 school in the SCUSD. If your child/children attend one of our schools, you can let their teacher know that you would like to be on the Blessings in a Backpack program. They can get your kids set up to bring home a bag each Friday afternoon, for the entire school year.
We would like to add 3 -4 more schools, which will bring the total kids taking home weekend food bags to 500. This link will take you to the schools we are currently in.
No, there is not a cost to the students or to the schools for the BIAB weekend bag of food. We are able to provide the weekend food bags because of the donations, grants we receive and our fundraisers. There is no proof of income required.
Yes, we are a 501c3. There are over 1,000 chapters of Blessings in a Backpack across the USA, filled with volunteers that help get the weekend food to the children.
Each chapter of Blessings in a Backpack is responsible for raising the funds that enable them to purchase the weekend food. Our funds are raised by donations, grants and our Annual Swing To End Hunger Charity Golf Tournament held each June.
Follow this link to the national page of Blessings in a Backpack and you can get the info.
Reach out to their Teacher, the Office Staff, or the Principal and request your child be added to the Blessings in a Backpack program. If you encounter any issues, please reach out to JD@BibSac.org.
